Aims

The most urgent work that requires attention is repairs to the roads. This is our primary focus at the present time. However, once that has been undertaken, the association may consider other community issues such as parking, signage and security.

Why Are We Here?

  • Safer Roads
  • Reduce Damage
  • Increase Property Value

Estimated Budget for Urgent Repairs:

£15,000-£30,000

Proposed Contribution per Household:

To be discussed and agreed. One suggestion is for each property to make an annual contribution of £60 (£5 per month). This would allow us to keep filling existing potholes to keep the road safe, and at the same time build a fund over several years for the full resurfacing of affected areas. If EVERY property contributed, it would raise £12000 per year.

Actions Required:

  • Collect funds for road repairs and maintenance
  • Lobby councils and businesses for additional funding
  • Investigate and commission work
  • Keep residents informed

Roads Include:

  • Stoney Common Road
  • Stoney Common
  • West Road
  • Brook View
  • Brook Cottages
  • Rochford Close
  • Stoney Place

Other Possible Sources of Funds:
The committee has been exploring possible contributions from local companies, utilities and service providers including:

  • Essex Highways – so far they have refused to agree any kind of contribution but they have been lobbied by the Parish Council.
  • BT
  • Stansted Airport – we understand there is a fund available for local community projects around the airport.
  • Network Rail
  • Thames Water
  • Affinity Water
  • Parish Council – have agree to contribute to the road repair work (approx 15%). This will need to be re-confirmed when we are closer to commissioning work.
  • New Property Developers
